Calatheas Moss Ball Kokedamas | Detailed Care Instructions

Here are some tips to make your Calathea happier:

1. Light: Calatheas are very adaptable, even to low light, but medium indirect light, is ideal for these plants. Place your Calathea Moss Ball. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.

2. Watering: It is very important to use dechlorinated water, this means use distilled, purified, spring, filtered or best rain water occassionally. Tap water has high chlorine and this could damager your Calathea.
Water your Calathea Moss Ball Kokedama when the moss ball feels lightweight. This indicates that it needs water. Submerge the moss ball 3/4 of the moss ball at least but ideally all the way up in water.
During the summer, high temperatures may require more frequent watering or slightly longer watering sessions. In winter, adjust watering according to the watering guide.

3. Temperature: Calatheas prefer temperatures between 60°F and 75°F (15°C-24°C). Avoid exposing them to cold drafts outdoors or indoors from the AC vent or temperatures below 55°F (13°C). Maintain a consistent temperature to promote healthy growth.

4. Humidity: Calatheas thrive in high humidity environments. Mist the leaves regularly or place the kokedama on a tray filled with pebbles and water to increase humidity. Alternatively, you can use a room humidifier to maintain optimal humidity levels or you could place your calathea outdoor if it is humid outside but not below 55 degrees.

5. Fertilization: Feed your Calathea Moss Ball Kokedama with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer once a month during the growing season (spring and summer). Dilute the fertilizer according to the package instructions and apply it to the water before submerging. This will provide the necessary nutrients for healthy growth.

6. Pruning: Trim any yellow or brown leaves to maintain the plant's appearance. You can also prune leggy stems to encourage bushier growth. Regular pruning helps keep the plant compact and vibrant.

7. Psychological Benefits: Calatheas, with their beautiful foliage and intricate patterns, can create a calming and soothing atmosphere. Studies suggest that being around plants can reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance overall well-being. Embrace the therapeutic benefits of your Calathea Moss Ball Kokedama by taking a moment to appreciate its beauty and connect with nature.

8. Symbolism: The Calathea plant symbolizes new beginnings and adaptability. Its leaves, which open and close in response to light, represent a fresh start and the ability to adjust to different situations. The plant's beautiful foliage serves as a reminder to embrace change and find balance in life. Additionally, the Calathea is known to purify the air and create a calming atmosphere, making it a perfect choice for creating a rejuvenating space.

Lastly, remember to maintain a loving and nurturing energy towards your plant. Your positive energy and care will contribute to its overall well-being and create a harmonious environment. By following these care instructions, your Calathea Moss Ball Kokedama will thrive and bring a sense of beauty and tranquility to your home or office.
